lyrics
In denial of compelled compassion
I call to antipodes of all the living
The Beast that bring collapse to mortals
Your Chaotic Blood
Is embodied in my flesh
Your Call enchants
In Satanic Light of full Moon
Shall all creation fall into the mouth of Eternal Darkness
Chosen by you Lykania
I hear your Call
Rejecting the dreams of illusive lies
Possessed by the ruthlessness of the mad
Before your Shadow Throne
The Primordial Force that slumbers within
Is manifesting by sanguinary lycanthropic dreams
In the Black Moon Principality
Io Lykania
The Creator’s tears of blood are shed before your frenzy
Gods bend their knees in the wearing out of flesh
Fill my soul with ravenous Darkness
Releasing from the prison called body
In the mysteries of Black Wolf Moon of Chaos
Confer me the power to transform into Beast
To take my place in the demonic pack of werewolves
Converting body and spirit into rage of Anticosmos
Io Lykania
Chosen by you Lykania
I hear your Call
Rejecting the dreams of illusive lies
Possessed by the ruthlessness of the mad

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

Late 90's BM worship, but it's also a lil more than that. This album takes the best elements from the scene it's inspired by and mostly avoids the worst of it; the song-writing is well-written, it's performed with passion and fun, and the production is raw but isn't lo-fi. (i.e. it doesn't obfuscate and/or suckass).
Tl;dr It's safe but high quality BM. Recommended. Rabbit
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
